Huanchaco Pre-columbian Experience
Huanchaco - Reed Fields - Learn how to make a pre-columbian reed canoe
You see them in pre-columbian ceramics. An ancestral tradition from the Moche and Chimu people has survived the passing time. Explore with us and witness this ancient experience. First we head to the fishing village of Huanchaco, where we meet traditional fishermen that have learned from their ancestors how to go fishing and make this more than 3000 year old traditional reed canoes called "little horses". We visit the reed fields (totorales), where we will be explained all the process to produce a canoe from the very direct mouth of the fishermen. Learn about the mochica tools they use, and see them navigating the see on their reed canoes. After this enlightening experience, we go back to Trujillo.
