We start travelling to the Chicama Valley, to visit El Brujo Archaeological Complex, comprising Huaca Prieta (where the oldest textile was found, and was the place ), Huaca Cao Viejo and Huaca El Brujo.

The archaeological site is located in the right margin of the Chicama valley, near the coastal district of Magdalena de Cao. This site comprises adobe pyramids known as El Brujo Complex, more than 4,500 years old. This place has been occupied from the Archaic at Huaca Prieta (2,500 BC) with a continuous occupation until the arrival of the Spaniards where they built a church made by the Dominican monks, and also with a large population during the the era known as Cao. During the Moche (0-650 AD) occupation, the complex had fulfilled the most important progressive role as ceremonial center for the most important deities, and also dedicated to urban activities for the elite in this valley. The archaeological complex consists of Huaca Prieta in the south end, the Huaca Cao Viejo and Huaca El Brujo are the most prominent structures on the site, where there is also a significant number of smaller mounds, cemeteries and domestic areas of different periods, distributed on a geological triangular platform, which has an area of approximately 1.2 km2, surrounded by the North, South and East with small ponds and farmland, and on the west by the El Brujo beach. The northern flank corresponds to the main front, which has been subject to a large number of plundering of an important Lambayeque cemetery. The most impressive friezes depict human scale sized polychrome reliefs, in which is shown staged nude characters tied by the neck with a rope, known as "prisoners" those moving from west to east; behind them several warriors are standing still carrying their weapons.

The tomb of the Lady of Cao, ruler and Moche Shaman-Priestess, considered an almost divine character was found in Huaca Cao Viejo. It is of great importance since before this finding, it was thought that only men had held high positions in ancient Peru.

We also visit the Museum of Cao, here in a special room, we see the mummified remains of the Lady of Cao, and her well preserved and impressive tattoos that have a religious and ritual symbolism, her ornaments, jewelry and costumes that accompany her funeral bundle.
